EXPERIENCING THE PROBLEM

Splitting the Bill: A Sunday Morning Struggle

Here’s my group of friends after a hearty Sunday breakfast. They seem like they’re having a great chat, right? Well, not quite—they’re actually trying to split the bill. We’ve been at it for half an hour.

UNDERSTANDING THE PROBLEM

After experiencing this problem firsthand, I began asking my friends about their struggles with splitting bills.

And here's what I found…

EXPERIENCING THE PROBLEM + CONDCUTING INTERVIEWS =
THE CHALLENGE

Creating an application that simplifies bill splitting and makes tracking payments effortless.

An app designed to streamline bill splitting while ensuring users can easily track payments without awkward reminders.

GIVEN PROBLEM STATEMENT

How might we implement voting for
phase 1

Our aim was to develop a system that simplifies vote drafting for users while also boosting user engagement.

EXISTING OPTIONS TO HOST VOTING

In our quest to simplify and democratize student voting, we first explored options such as Google Forms, Microsoft Forms, and other potential platforms for hosting votes.

The problems faced…..

HOW DID I PROCEED

I chose to steer the voting via the primary Sarkaar webpage.

This has the potential to educate audiences concerning the Sarkaar game event, in addition to inciting increased involvement in following installments, whilst maintaining effortless accessibility online.

WHAT EXISTS

Sarkaar Page

Participants may gain knowledge about the concept of the game show, potential rewards, and sign-up information.

Ahaverse admin portal

Through the Ahaverse admin portal, our idea is to monitor and execute polls effectively, aiding in the consolidation and export of voting information efficiently

THE USAGE

Given that the voting system is intended for students, I prioritised a mobile-first strategy.

Considering that 79% of students in India depend on smartphones, giving priority to mobile guarantees access to a broad user base

THE APPROACH

We've opted to design our platform's layout with a nod to the likes of Google forms, Microsoft forms, and Strawpoll

Even though we cannot fully draw inspiration from these platforms, we still have to focus on maintaining our user base.

USER JOURNEY

There were two ways in which the journey was designed

1. General process: here, pupils can look up their universities and other institutions to vote for their beloved squads

  1. Collge URL, a hyperlink of the university will be directly delivered to the university liaison or POC (point of contact) to distribute the URL on their campuses.

DESIGN

HYPOTHESIS

The introduction of a dedicated "Vote for your favorite team!!" card is a strategic decision to increase visibility and engagement for the voting process. This card serves as a focal point for users, highlighting that the popularity contest has started and making it clear that they can take immediate action by voting.

METRIC IMPACT

This design decision is expected to positively influence user engagement, as the clarity and prominence of the voting CTA make it easier for users to understand what action is needed.

HYPOTHESIS

The search bar allows easy access to colleges, and the bold "LIVE" tags with clear voting buttons encourage immediate participation. The design focuses on driving user engagement by making the voting process simple and efficient, encouraging more votes and repeat visits.

METRIC IMPACT

The design impacts key metrics by increasing user engagement through easy navigation and a clear voting process. The search bar enhances efficiency, allowing users to quickly find their college, while bold "LIVE" tags and distinct voting buttons drive higher vote conversions.

HYPOTHESIS

This screen engages users by allowing them to participate in the voting process for their favorite teams after selecting their college. By showcasing qualified teams and offering easy-to-use voting buttons for the remaining teams,

METRIC IMPACT

The clear voting options and visuals of the teams, along with the "Vote to Qualify" button, directly drive user participation and interaction, contributing to overall app engagement
